Working on a large scale helps them to see what they are capable of! Students draw silhouettes, consider what they might use their pot for and which form would function the best for that purpose. Then select their favorite and create a cardboard template to help them visualize where to place each coil. Once their pot is bisque students study pottery surface design from various cultures and choose one to serve as inspiration for their surface design. In particular since pride month is June this is supposed to show how the LGBTQ community is silenced and made to feel invalid. Leaders of this country and the media make LGBTQ youth feel like they can’t express who they are and that how they are feeling is wrong. The mask is tied into our current situation with COVID and how this pandemic is silencing the queer community further. Pride parades across the world have been canceled for safety, but other laws still discriminate against queer people. I would put this graffiti on the front of city hall. This would not go over well, but it is important that it is displayed in a place that everyone can see it.</image:caption>
